DIY Rocaries in the country

The usual garden and surgery of a summer cottage is gradually losing its popularity. Many owners of land begin to look at their possessions not only as a “supplier” of products to the dining table. Now they are suitable for arranging estates from the standpoint of creating a vacation spot. And to rest it was more comfortable, you should decorate the site.

And here such a science as landscape design comes to the aid of land owners. One of the elements of such a design is Rocaria – the likeness of alpine slides and Japanese gardens of stones.

The peculiarity of the rockerry before the mountaineering is that the rockery can be equipped in any area (both on inclined and flat). As for the Garden of Stones, Rocaria has its own advantages – you can plant flowers, while only stones are present in the Japanese garden.

DIY rockeries in the country will not be difficult to equip. But first you should “create” it on paper. Decide on the place where you want to “break” the rocky flower garden, with the choice of the main stone and the number of related ones, as well as with the general composition of the Rocaries.

By the way, it should be said that on the “bed” the stones of only one breed should “grow”: a shell -torture or granite, limestone or sandstone. Do not choose ideal stones – their fragments will look more natural. After all, the rockery should organically fit into the surrounding landscape.

So, the place for the rockery is chosen. Now the layer of turf should be removed throughout the area, forming a pit to a depth of 30 cm. Since flowers will grow among the stones in rockeries, soil drainage should be created by pouring a broken red brick or medium -sized gravel into the resulting pit, and river sand on top.

Then the main boulder of the composition (the largest of the selected stones) is installed and sprinkled with the earth, thawing so that the stone does not stagger. The remaining stones are “scattered” throughout the rockery in groups or one by one, randomly or choosing a certain system.

Each stone also sprinkles of delays. And only after that they pour the ground on sections free from the stones. It is in these intervals that the plants will be planted, so the main layer of the earth here should consist of humus and turf. And as an addition – peat and sand.

As for the planting material, these should be dwarf plants (conifers and flowers such as splashes, iris or cyclamen).
