Another group of migrants arrived at the residence of US Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington on Friday, November 18.
A video of the arrival of a bus with fifty people was posted on Twitter by journalist Benny Johnson, noting that Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to send refugees to Washington.
Greg Abbott has been regularly sending illegal migrants by bus to key states of the country since the beginning of 2022: Washington, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia. So the governor is trying to draw the attention of the authorities to the problem of “invasion”, which he himself is forced to solve with “unprecedented measures” to protect his state. Among them are the involvement of the National Guard to ensure the expulsion of illegal immigrants who arrived back and granting law enforcement authorities the rights to arrest and send migrants across the border and assign the status of drug cartels in Mexico.
On Wednesday, November 16, Abbott announced on Twitter that in the morning two buses with migrants from Texas arrived at the Naval Observatory in Washington.
“Vice President Harris claims that our border is secure and denies the crisis. We are sending migrants to the backyard of her residence to urge the Biden administration to do its job and secure the border,” the governor’s post says.
Immigration advocates called the removal of migrants by bus a cruel joke played on innocent people who are legally in the United States. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney called the Abbott administration “cruel and racist” for sending a bus into the city without warning and without a plan to help families when they arrive.
“It is sad and outrageous that the government, Abbott and his administration continue to pursue their cruel and racist policies, using immigrant families, including children, as pawns to shamelessly promote their perverted political agenda,” The Texas Tribune quoted him as saying.
Migration policy is one of the program articles of American leaders. Many criticize the current situation with migrants for excessive loyalty, which is why migrant flows got out of control and flooded the country with refugees from Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba. In June, former US President Donald Trump said that this was happening because of the loose borders.
At the same time, the head of the state of Texas Abbott blamed President Joe Biden and his migration policy for the death of at least 46 migrants whose bodies were found in a truck parked in San Antonio. He said that the tragedy with the dead is the result of the “deadly policy of open borders.”
Immediately after assuming the post of US president, Biden signed three decrees in the field of the country’s migration policy, which cancel the orders of his predecessor, Donald Trump. One of them concerns the reunification of families of illegal migrants with children separated at the US-Mexico border.
At the same time, on April 4, the results of a survey became known, according to which the majority of American voters blame Biden, not Trump, for the migration crisis that broke out on the border with Mexico. The latter adhered to the so-called zero tolerance policy towards violators of migration legislation. He advocated limiting the number of immigrants, introducing new procedures for their verification and reducing the number of accepted refugees.
