A record drought in Texas, USA, caused the drainage of the Paluxi River and the discovery of dinosaur footprints on its bottom.
The tracks were found in the riverbed in the Valley of Dinosaurs National Park.
Experts estimated the age of the find at 113 million years. It is assumed that they belong to an acrocanthosaurus with a height of 4.5 m and a weight of 7 tons.
According to experts, traces of sauroposeidon were also found, the length of which was 18 m, and the weight was about 44 tons.
Dinosaur Valley State Park is the site of the discovery of many dinosaur tracks, mainly ancient sauropods and theropods, but these tracks were seen for the first time.
It is believed that the dinosaur tracks found in the park date back to the middle of the Cretaceous period, when the modern Dallas region in Texas was on the seashore.
“Most of the tracks that have recently been found in different parts of the river in the park belong to Acrocanthosaurus,” park spokeswoman Stephanie Salinas Garcia told reporters.
